All in a good cause

We raised over 9k for Birmingham Children’s hospital. As well as developing our future leaders we also took the opportunity to us the LA Challenge to raise much needed funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Star Appeal.

This important appeal is aiming to raise £3.65 million to create the UK’s first centre for the children with rare diseases – providing co-ordinated care, treatment and support to help to brighten the lives of our little stars.

We wanted to raise as much money as we could towards their target and to do so we ran a prize auction and draw. Up for grabs were: Monarch flights, spa days, meals out, day trips to the Zoo, football match tickets, and so much more.

We also set the teams an extra little challenge giving them just two weeks to raise as much as they could…

All teams rose to the challenge and then some! Here’s a breakdown of the top 5 fundraising teams. In total we raised a staggering £9,074.83. Well done all!

The top five fundraisers:

Sandwell MBC £1870.20
City of Wolverhampton Council £1325.58
Warwick District Council £1073.42
Solihull Council £863.72
Birmingham City Council £445.66

Birmingham Children’s hospital were overwhelmed with our combined achievement and are entering us into their 100 heroes award, which could see WME’s name on a balloon in the entrance to the hospital along with other organisations who have managed to raise over 4k for the charity.

We would like to give a huge thanks to all of the generous contributors who have kindly donated prizes to help us raise funds!

“We have been blown away by the amount that has been raised – and in such a short space of time.  It just goes to show what you can achieve when people come together and work as a team. The money raised will help us to achieve our aim of creating the UK’s first Rare Diseases Centre for children,– improving the lives of thousands of families from across the country who have children living with rare or undiagnosed conditions.”
Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity
